Bal Harbor Cultural Center

TheĀ (hypothetical) Bal Harbor Cultural Center is located in the Ritz Carleton building. It is consisted of three floors. Inspired by the contrast in black and white photography, jewelry, the badlands in South Dakota, and shells. The center uses a neutral palate as a way of being transformable for different events. The center includes two rentable spaces, two theatres, an art gallery and shop, and a restaurant, cafe, and bar. In this project I play with lighting and reflections as a way of adding depth and interest.

See Second Part of Full Presentation Here: Tropic Health Center Part 2

CONCEPT:

Tropic health center will be a fun, relaxing place for students to get health care. There will be pops of color through the space with green walls connecting it to nature. Inspired by the colors found in agate rocks and butterfly wings. Hard surfaces and clean lines will give a modern feel to the space. All in all, it will be a confortable place for students to get their health care.

MATERIAL RATIONAL:

As a medical facility for young adults, the materials used will aim to reach a multitude of attributes. When selecting materials I will be looking things such as, Environmental friendliness, Cleanliness factors such as the ability to be cleaned and the ability to repel/resist any germs. Durability and low VOC to no VOC are also factors to take into consideration. The materials colors and patterns should also reflect, and contribute to the young atmosphere.

GIVE BACK:

THE BUTTERFLY BAR

During the day the space is a Butterfly garden with a juice bar, at night The juice bar will serve alcoholic beverages as well making it a perfect place to stop by before or after a show at the Adrienne Arsht center.
